Canvas 6 Professional Edition • Evaluation version
February 1999
Welcome to the Canvas 6 Evaluation version! This document contains information about installing and trying out Canvas 6.
To obtain an evaluation serial number for Canvas 6, please go to the evaluation web page at http://www.deneba.com/cdmacaddict. You will need to enter this serial number during installation to enjoy all the features of the program. The Evaluation version expires after the 30-day evaluation period.
If you cannot obtain an evaluation serial number, you can run Canvas in "demo" mode by clicking OK without entering an evaluation serial number during installation. In demo mode, Canvas will not save or export documents, and printed documents have a "Canvas" banner on each page.
System requirements
Please check to be sure your system meets the following minimum requirements for running Canvas:
PowerPC™ processor
Mac System 7.5 or later
CD-ROM drive
16 MB RAM available to Canvas; 32 MB RAM recommended
Approximately 60 MB hard disk space available for installation
8-bit color video display; 24-bit color display recommended
Installing Canvas
Before installation, quit any applications that are running on your Mac. To begin installation, double-click the Canvas™ 6 Install icon on the CD-ROM.
The Canvas setup program displays instructions and options for you to select. On the Software License Agreement screen, read the license agreement and indicate your acceptance of the license agreement by clicking Accept.
You can select a location for installing Canvas and choose other installation options in the installer dialog box.
• Choose Easy Install to install all Canvas items.
• Choose Custom Install to select the items to install.
We recommend that you use the Easy Install option. After you make your selections, click Install to begin installation.
Choosing a default color space
During installation, the installer asks you to choose color presets based on your typical work. You can choose RGB or CMYK color presets. The installation screen explains typical uses for these types of colors.
The color system you choose determines which inks Canvas loads into the Inks palette. The color system also applies to colors in the Strokes palette, the Color Dropper mode, and the default printer calibration setting. However, this choice does not limit your ability to use all the color systems that Canvas supports. You can choose either color option during installation, and then change color systems in Canvas at any time.
